Definition

Warranty period is the stated length of time after purchase or activation during which a manufacturer or seller provides specified warranty coverage. Coverage terms, start date, transferability, registration requirements and exclusions vary by brand and jurisdiction. A warranty is not the same as a service interval and normally covers qualifying defects rather than routine wear, accidental damage or every maintenance need.

Why it matters

Warranty length is useful only alongside the actual terms. For pre-owned watches, remaining coverage and whether it transfers to a new owner can affect value.
