Day-Date
A watch display showing both the day of the week and the numerical date.
Also known as: Day date, Day/date

Definition
A day-date complication displays both the numbered date and the day of the week. Most implementations use separate rotating discs beneath apertures, although hands or retrograde indications are possible. The day wheel follows a seven-day cycle while a simple date wheel follows 31 positions, so the date still needs correction after months shorter than 31 days unless a more advanced calendar is used.
Why it matters
It adds useful calendar information with modest complexity, but owners still need to understand month-end correction and safe setting procedures.
