Battery Life
A watch specification field known as Battery Life, used to describe or compare a measurable or identifying characteristic of a watch.
Also known as: Battery duration, Battery runtime

Definition
Battery life is the expected operating time of a battery-powered watch between battery replacement or recharge cycles, depending on the watch’s energy system. Conventional quartz watches can run for years on a primary button cell, while high-drain functions such as alarms, illumination, radio reception or sensors reduce life. Rechargeable solar and smart watches use different battery-life concepts, so figures should be compared within the same technology and usage assumptions.
Why it matters
Battery life affects maintenance and reliability, particularly in watches with power-hungry functions. Published figures are estimates based on assumed use, not guarantees under every pattern of operation.
